About 365 Cosmetic Reviews

About 365 Cosmetic Reviews Pile of MakeupHello, and welcome!  I’m glad you want to learn about 365 Cosmetic Reviews.  With the amount of fake news in the world right now we all need sources for helpful information we can trust.  This is your best source for thoroughly unbiased, unscripted, honest product reviews and how-to guides.  The variety of cosmetic, beauty or makeup products apply to all ethnicities, sexes, ages and skin types.

365 Cosmetic Reviews was originally a daily review site.  However, the followers requested more helpful tips/tricks and how-to guides, so the site has evolved into not just reviews, but helpful articles and information as well.  I really do listen to what you like and want!

Why ANOTHER review site?

With all of the thousands of review sites that already exist, why one more?  Because when I read the reviews, the information is either completely wrong, confusing, or just plain stupid.  Someone will write a glowing review for a product (that they were probably paid to write) with no basis for the review.  The author has no qualifications to evaluate a product other than the fact that they claimed to use it.  The reviewer will say, “Buy brand “X”; it worked for me and it is great!”  (And guess what, if you click on the link from the manufacturer to buy the product, they get paid for that, too. )  They don’t analyze the product,  tell you why it worked and explain the properties of the product.  Basically, what you end up with is a useless opinion rather than a factual analysis.  I’m here to change that.

About the author…Who am I?

I’m L. A. Rose and I own a company called Hollywood Beauty & Style.  I have been a professional makeup artist for well over 20 years. I am constantly trying new products to achieve the best results for my clients. Every day my clients ask me for advice on what products they should use in every conceivable category. I always provide advice on an individual basis after I have examined their skin and interviewed them regarding their needs.

What works for one person will not work for someone else. It is difficult to offer blanket advice to the masses. Everyone has different skin issues, habits, and professions.  Some people only have five minutes in the morning; some have an hour to devote to their makeup.  Some people need their makeup to stand up to the rigors of their day and they don’t have time for touch ups. Others have the leisure of being able to touch up their art work every hour.  It is for these reasons that I have decided to personally test different products on several people and report on how easy they were to use and how well they hold up eight or more hours later.  Some of the products I will test several times in different situations before providing a review.

Please share the love.

I’m buying hundreds of products to try and keep you from wasting your money and time if they are not worth it.  If you know of amazing products, please share them with me so I can enlighten others.  I hope you find this information useful and helpful. If you do, please spread the word about this blog site and share it with as many people as possible; if you don’t, please tell me how I can make it better.  Producing something like this takes a lot of time, energy and money.  If you find this to be beneficial, then please help keep it going with your feedback and referrals.

Do you have sensitivity issues?

Me, too.  Most of the products I will be using will be fragrance free. Many people are highly allergic to fragrances.  Fragrances cause sensitivities and they do not belong in cosmetics.  Sometimes, I simply cannot find a fragrance-free type of product, and I may review products that contain fragrance.  This typically occurs in the realm of cleansing, hair-care or self-tanning products.  If the product contains fragrance I will note that in the review.

What is the purpose of this site?

Cosmetics are expensive. They are worthless if they don’t perform as they should, or if you only use them once, and they end up collecting dust in a drawer until finally being disposed.  I’m offering this blog and these reviews as a service to my customers to try and sort through the myriad of often-confusing products.  I’m going to use products in all price ranges and am on a quest to simply find the best products regardless of brand name or price.  After over two decades of using almost every brand made, I can tell you that expensive is definitely not always better.  I’m also going to review popular products that I don’t particularly care for, to try and find out why they are so popular.  It is amazing how marketing hype can get consumers to buy inferior products.

How is this site vastly different from other review sites?

  • Most review sites are simply paid commercial advertisements masquerading as independent reviews.  (No one is paying me to do this and there are no commercials here.)
  • Most of the people providing reviews have no professional credentials, training or expertise in this field. I have vast experience testing and utilizing every imaginable category of product for everyday use, as well as for film, stage, television and print purposes.
  • I know how cosmetics are supposed to perform and how to evaluate their usefulness.

I don’t trust the information on most sites. Why should you trust THIS site?

  • I am not being compensated for providing reviews.
  • I am not affiliated with any company whose products I am reviewing.
  • I am not advertising or endorsing any product.  If I like it I’ll say so; if I don’t, I won’t sugar coat my opinion.
  • If there is a particular product you would like for me to review, I will be happy to do so, if possible.
  • I am open to reviewing products for both men and women, as I do have a lot of male clients, too, (many of whom are agreeable to serve as testers).
  • I will provide my truthful, unbiased review both as a professional in the industry and as a consumer who uses cosmetics myself on a daily basis.

How are the products rated?

The products will be reviewed in three categories and the scores will be averaged to arrive at a rating.

The categories are:

  • Morning Review (Initial Impression);
  • Evening Review (Effectiveness of Product After 8+ Hours); and
  • Value for Your Dollars.

My Rating System:  1 Star = Terrible;  2 Stars = Just Okay;  3 Stars = Good;  4 Stars = Excellent;  5 Stars = Exceptional, Blew Me Away.

Price Categories:  5 Stars = Dirt Cheap;  4 Stars = Inexpensive;  3 Stars = Mid-Range;   2 Stars = Expensive;  1 Star = Luxury (Insanely Expensive).

In the case of products that need time to perform, the rating will be revised every 30 days as necessary until 90 days have elapsed.  If there are no dramatic results by then, there probably never will be.
